It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Taconnet’s new year round manager beginning April 1st, Anne Randall. The search committee began the intimidating task of replacing Mary and Don Beane last fall, following the Beanes’ announcement that they wished to begin a new venture by starting a restaurant this spring.
The search committee was led by Melissa Lynch Woolford and also included John Lawrence, Dick Tucker, Warren Cross, and myself. We hired a search consultant to assist us in a national search with a special focus on New England. We had significant interest in the position and a strong set of finalists, but both the search committee and the Board were unanimous in the selection of Anne Randall as the strongest candidate.
Anne comes to us with twenty years of camp management experience including strategic planning, hiring and staff development, outdoor programming for all ages, property maintenance, budget development, and marketing to build a loyal constituency – including strong experience in the use of technology.
She and her husband Matt live in Brunswick, Maine. They have four sons, three of whom are grown and living independently. We look forward to welcoming their 11 year old son, Morgen, to the island with them. Matt is employed by Messer Truck Equipment in Westbrook as their Brand Ambassador, but he will be with Anne on the island for the majority of the summer. He also comes from a strong background of decades of camp management experience and grew up between Brunswick and Saco, Maine where his family owns and manages Marston’s Marina.
In addition to their extraordinary skill set and experiences, the Randalls bring warmth, enthusiasm, and energy to the task of leading Taconnet forward into the 2020s and beyond. We hope you will join us by welcoming them with open arms. They are excited to listen and learn about all the special experiences that have made Taconnet a uniquely special spot for all of us.
